RIMNP partnered with the Aging Interest Group and the Brown undergraduate program Housing Opportunities for People Everywhere (HOPE) to attend the “Legislative Leadership Forum on Senior Issues” on April 10, 2017. There we learned about the four top priority issues for RI elders from Bill Flynn, the Executive Director of the host organization, Senior Agenda Coalition of RI. Speaker of the House Nicholas Mattiello and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio responded to these priorities, and we were excited to hear verbal pledges of support for reinstatement of the RIPTA No-Fare Bus Pass Program. This is a top priority issue and a vital program used by over 4,000 seniors and 9,700 persons living with disabilities, including many of our RIMNP participants. We will continue to work with the Senior Agenda Coalition of RI and HOPE to advocate for the reinstatement of the RIPTA No-Fare Bus Pass Program as soon as possible.
