This past week, we held our first reflections meeting of 2018. Around twenty students were in attendance putting their heads together to reflect upon challenging personal and often systemic obstacles to helping their partnered participants. The homelessness that each of our partnered participants face is rife with these obstacles, unfortunately, but they may all take quite different forms. Being able to share our personal goals and experiences from our individual teams helped us learn more about our own team efforts, and understand, a little better, the experience that others may have in order to effect positive change in the future. We also discussed a transition to a “pool” format for the RWU law students who will primarily act as consultants for when individual teams want to discuss any legal issues that participants may potentially face.
Feb 23-25: We are attending the Summit on Homelessness and Poverty, a conference aiming to facilitate collaboration, discussion, and community building among students and student-led organizations doing innovative anti-poverty work across the country.
