The Rhode Island Medical Navigator Partnership has hosted winter clothing drives since 2015 on behalf of House of Hope to help protect homeless individuals from harsh and sometimes life-threatening winter weather. In conjunction with undergraduate students in Brown’s Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME), we set up donation boxes at Alpert Medical School and the Brown undergraduate campus. Thanks to donors in the Providence community, we collected over 1200 clothing items in 2015 and 2016. These items have been distributed by House of Hope during their street outreach.
We will be holding another clothing drive during the fall of 2017! Please keep the homeless community in mind as the winter approaches.
